Model United Nations

White United Nations logo on a field of blueSFCMS is proud to announce its newest addition to our academic club roster, Model United Nations (MUN)!

According to UNAUSA.org, “At Model UN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors of countries that are members of the UN, from Argentina to Zimbabwe. The students, better known as “delegates”, debate current issues on the organization’s vast agenda. They prepare draft resolutions, plot strategy, negotiate with supporters and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the UN’s rules of procedure – all in the interest of resolving problems that affect the world.”

MUN meets every other Friday, from 2:35 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., in Room 13 with Mrs. Brady unless otherwise announced. Students from all grade levels are invited to attend and participate, developing useful skills such as research, public speaking, critical and logical thinking in support for and against positions, conflict resolution, and communication.

Meeting dates for the 2017-2018 school year include November 3, 17; December 1, 15; January 5, 19; February 2, 16; March 2, 16; and April 13, 20. Additional dates may be added.

Interested students may join MUN in Google Classroom using the join code, z8a7bmy.

For more information about joining, please see Ms. Brady in Room 13.
