Battle of the Books

Red, yellow, and blue anthropomorphized books playing a game of tug of war

KNIGHTS!!  Heed the call for Battle… of the Books!

* Interested students should listen to the morning announcements for information on all club meetings. The Battle of the Books Interest Meeting will be announced soon. Regular weekly meetings will occur virtually on Tuesday afternoons.

Who can participate? All dedicated sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students who love to read and enjoy the thrill of competition are encouraged. Our final competing team can be no more than 12 members.

What will we do? Team members read from a list of 22 young adult titles, create questions about them, and are tested in their knowledge of the books’ plots, settings, and characters.

When do we meet? Every Tuesday, online, time TBA.  Students who miss more than 2 meetings without an excused absence will not be allowed to continue with the team.

Where do we meet? During Plan B or Plan C of CCS virtual learning, meetings will be held online.

Who are the coaches? Ms. Mary Potter (Media Coordinator), Mrs. Michelle Schriefer (7th Grade ELA Teacher), and Ms. Amber Fulcher (6th Grade ELA Teacher)

Why should I participate? Battle of the Books allows students to enjoy great literature, to strengthen reading skills, to spend time sharing books with other readers, and to showcase Seventy-First Classical’s top-notch academic and study skills.
