Reading-Rocks-WormThe annual Cumberland County Schools Reading Rocks! Literacy and Fundraising campaign is underway! We will celebrate literacy at the school-level in March during Read Across America Week. In the meantime, we are raising funds at the school-level between now and November 30, 2018, to purchase books other student-use items. We need your support!

If you or your business are interested in becoming a SFCMS Reading Rocks! sponsor, please complete the bottom of this form and return it and your donation to Ms. Potter in the Media Center no later than Friday, November 30, 2018. Donors of $100 or more will be recognized as a bronze-level or silver-level sponsor on our school website and with a donor display in the Media Center that will remain up for the remainder of the school year. Donors of $500 or more will be recognized as a gold-level or platinum-level sponsor and thanked on the school website, the Media Center display, and the marquee at the street for at least one week during the school year.

Any donations are greatly appreciated, and 100% of your donation stays at SFCMS and will be used to purchase student-use items only. Over the past three years, donations have been used to purchase books and 30 iPads! This year, our goal is to refresh and improve our graphic novel collection and to further build our Maker Space.

Students are participating in the fundraising fun as well! They had the opportunity to attend the Reading Rocks! Dance on Tuesday, October 30, and the Fourth Annual SFCMS Money Wars will run November 5 through November 9. Money Wars is a points-based game of strategic donations in which the grade levels compete head-to-head to receive a “Lunch with Friends” Day on Friday, November 16. Cash donations add points to a grade-level’s tally while coins deduct points.  Details about Money Wars were sent home in writing with students on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.

Thank you in advance for your support of SFCMS and Reading Rocks!!

UPDATE: Congratulations to the Seventh Grade for winning this year’s Money Wars! Sixth Grade was in a close second with Eighth Grade a close third. In terms of student participation, this year is the single BEST year for Reading Rocks’ Money Wars! On Friday alone, all the grade levels combined donated a staggering $1,162.15, bringing our five-day Money Wars total to $1,788.67! Because all the grade levels were so close in donations, all the grade levels will get to sit at any table at lunch on Friday, November 16.
